Hyaluronic acid is known as a humectant, which means it is a substance that retains moisture. It works by hydrating the top layer of vaginal skin.
Many of us are familiar with hyaluronic acid because it is used for facial skin, with excellent results.
A review of current studies, and they are limited, seem to agree that hyaluronic acid compares favorably with estrogen therapy. Remember, hyaluronic acid is not a hormone.
Obviously, differences in individual sensitivity and preparations will affect the results obtained.
